Updated CA Root Cert Bundle on RHEL

Purpose

This article gives the steps to updated the Root CA Cert SSL/TLS Bundle on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6+ Flavors. This should give your system the latest and greatest Root CA Certs. So like if a SSL Cert verification is failing for say google.com. This could fix the issue.

Example Error: PHP Warning: file_get_contents(https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify): failed to open stream: Connection timed out in .../wp-content/plugins/secure-axs/gCaptcha/ReCaptcha/RequestMethod/Post.php on line 68, referer: http://www.example.com


Prerequisites

  • ca-certificates package installed
    sudo yum install ca-certificates
    


Proxy & Firewall

The auto update will need access to the following on the internet.


Enable Update CA Bundle

  1. update-ca-trust check
    
    OR
    update-ca-trust enable
