Purpose

This article gives the steps to create a bootable Windows 10 USB thumb drive on macOS Sierra without Bootcamp from ISO image.


Prerequisites


Format the Thumb Drive

  1. Connect the USB drive to your Mac.
  2. Open Disk Utility
    1. Select Spotlight
    2. Type disk utility
    3. Double-Click app icon
  3. Format USB drive
    1. Select USB drive in Disk Utility (Not the partition)
    2. Select Erase
    3. Enter name WIN10
    4. Select MS-DOS (FAT32)
    5. Select Master Boot Record

    6. Select Erase


Determine USB Drive ID

  1. Open Disk Utility
  2. Select the newly formatted partition named WIN10
  3. Either Select Info or look at bottom Device

Extract ISO Image to USB

  1. Open UNetbootin
  2. Select Diskimage
  3. Select ... and browse to ISO file on local system
  4. Select Open
  5. Select Matching Drive ID
  6. Select OK
